Ceramics (Fall 2018)

I ended by doing a few extra works including a terra cotta leaf bowl (using a green glaze) and some umber details.

I ended with a life sized self-portrait bust–“My Body” (using terra sigillata then brushed with umber stain). I did this as a body positive piece as part of my acceptance of scars, fat, rolls, and just my not perfect, perfect body. This piece also got chosen for the 2019 Annual Juried Student Show and Eastern Michigan University. This is the only juried student show, hundreds of artworks are submitted and only 40 got accepted. This piece also got chosen by my professor to be showed in a one day Symposium put on art department professors. There is no application process as professors just choose artworks depending on skill-level and artists they think deserve recognition for their pieces. I am extremely proud that my pieces got chosen.

Then, a terra cotta large abstract pot–“Weird Pot” (using extruded pieces, slipped with pansy and glazed with pansy). This piece got chosen for the 2019 Annual Juried Student Show and Eastern Michigan University. This is the only juried student show, hundreds of artworks are submitted and only 40 got accepted. This piece also got chosen by my professor to be showed in a one day Symposium put on art department professors. I am extremely proud that my pieces got chosen.

Next, was followed by a terra cotta abstract vase (glazed with black matte).

My first project was stoneware mugs (glazed) with miscellaneous glazes.
